The All-Party Parliamentary Group on the Fourth Industrial Revolution (4IR APPG) was launched by Alan Mak MP in Spring 2017, with the support of the Chancellor, to encourage pro-active engagement with the policy implications of new and emerging technologies, and to raise awareness of the corresponding challenges and opportunities for Britain’s economy and society.

Since its formation, the APPG has had great success engaging with a broad spectrum of stakeholders, including substantial support from both the Cabinet and Shadow Cabinet, and interest from backbench MPs and Peers in all parties. It has held dozens of events and welcomed several thousand guests to Parliament to discuss tech policy in a wide range of sectors

The Group also seeks to build a large non-parliamentary community of business leaders, academics, and other individuals interested in technology policy, to connect politicians and advisors in Westminster with industry and academic expertise around the country.

The APPG will continue to reinforce the message that Britain has a once-in-a-generation opportunity to harness emerging technologies to boost economic growth and raise living standards, and that this should be a priority for policymakers.
